Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Amy Walks, Actually
Hey, I love boobies. What can I say? I’ve got ’em, I love ’em, and I’d like to keep ’em. Not every woman is quite so lucky. In fact, one of my closest relatives hasn’t been so lucky. My Aunt Terri (many of you know her) has battled breast cancer in the past – more than once. Thankfully, she’s in remission these days – but the prospect of cancer is no less scary.
Normally I’d say “Hey, whew, I’m adopted – I don’t have to worry about that”, but the truth is: we all have to worry. We have to worry for ourselves and for our loved ones – for anyone and everyone, really. And hey, men are not exempt. Go ahead, fire up your Googler and check it out. While the precedent is that women are the primary breast cancer patients, you dudes need to be cognizant as well.
My point? I’ll keep this short and sweet. I’m doing something I don’t normally do: I’m asking for your help. Saturday, Oct 19, I will be walking. I will be making strides to end breast cancer. And while I’d love for each and every last one of you to walk with me, I know that isn’t possible. Instead, I ask that you make a small donation (every bit helps, of course) in my name here. My goal is to raise $500 before 10/19. My team, if the name is unrecognizable, is SMPS at UCF. This is an organization I’m proud to be a part of – the Society for Marketing Professional Services (at UCF – the only collegiate chapter!).
I also ask that if you pick any post of mine here on AmyActually.com to share, please let it be this one. This cause is so important to me and I know it’s very important to many of you. I’ll be sure to keep you abreast of my progress (pun intended; ain’t I a stinker?) and we’ll work to kick this cancer’s ass together!
